For anyone looking around at Prepaid mobile phone plans, Optus has today launched two new ‘epic’ plans with the launch of the Epic Data and Epic Value plans.
Epic Data
The Optus Epic Data plans offer a range of data and expiry times with up to 10GB to stream all their favourite shows on Netflix, Stan and ABC iview. All of the Optus Epic Data prepaid plans include data rollover of up to 50GB if you recharge before the expiry date.
The plans start at just $10 with 5GB of data, but a relatively small 5 day expiry and 100 minutes of calls to national numbers and unlimited national texting, and scales up depending on how much data you want and how long you want it to last for. Optus is highlighting their $30 plan which gives customers 5GB of anytime data the 10GB of Netflix, Stan and iView streaming data and a 28 day expiry.
Epic Value
While the Epic Data plans offer more data, their short expiry times may frustrate some customers. The Epic Value plans offer customers looking for a longer expiry period a massive 42-day expiry but only 1GB of data with every $30 recharge, though you can range up to 16GB of data on their $100 plan.
All the Epic Value plans include unlimited talk and text to standard Australian numbers, as well as access to rollover any unused data up to 50GB if you recharge before the expiry date.
Optus’ Managing Director for Marketing & Product, Ben White said the new plans deliver epic value to suit a range of needs.
In addition to the standard 5GB of data, our new Prepaid Epic Data plan also gives you up to 10GB of streaming data which allows our data-hungry users to watch their favourite TV shows on-the-go, on Netflix, Stan and ABC iview. We are really excited to launch the Prepaid Epic Value plan that offers customers 42 days of unlimited talk and text and 1GB of data.

Seems like plans aimed at millennials but ignoring millennials data needs.
Ok I’m confused. Why would a person other than a tourist buy a plan with 5/10 days expiry?
