It’s happening! Though it’s been hard to get a hold of Chrome OS devices in Australia, Acer has decided to make two of their latest Chrome OS devices, the Acer Chromebook Tab 10 and Acer Chromebox CXI3 available to order through their online store in Australia.
The Acer Chromebook Tab 10 is the first tablet running Chrome OS, and comes with a 9.7″ 2048×1536 resolution IPS LCD display, with an ‘OP1’ processor, a processor manufactured by Rockchip which has been optimised for Chrome OS. The tablet also has 4GB of RAM,32GB of onboard storage and comes with an Active Stylus. The Acer Chromebook Tab 10 (why isn’t it just called a Chrome Tab?) is selling for AUD$569. The Chromebook Tab 10 has a 1-year warranty, though it’s a mail in warranty.

At this stage we haven’t seen either the Chromebook Tab 10 or the Chromebox CXI3 at retailers, but we may see one or both soon. We’ll be checking with Acer to find out if there are plans to bring them to retail in Australia.
Who’s getting a case for theirs and where from? I’m just gonna start looking now.
Ooh, nice one. Has it arrived yet?
Hey Dan, They didn’t give me any tracking info but it arrived the next day! I’ve only used it for a few hours (just got back from Bali) but so far I like it. It’s really great to have a desktop browser on a tablet. The display is plenty bright and sharp but needs a slight boost in colour. Maybe I’m just used to AMOLED displays? There are no cases available for consumers but reviewers have been receiving an Acer case with their tablet so maybe I’ll be able to get one soon. Typing is a tad awkward with such… Read more »
Just purchased one from Acer’s Australian online store.
Please allow me to ask some stupid questions! The tablet will run Android apps, right? If so, will OneNote in Android support handwritten notes with the stylus?
This is an unexpected surprise!
Well that settles it, for $30 more I can buy Surface Go and have a lot more options.
Depends on what you plan on doing with it. The Surface Go can’t run Android app, has no Stylus included, and you have that whole problem of dealing with malware/viruses.
Don’t need android apps and there are way more on windows than Android, I can actually work on a Go with all my required software, Same re malware and viruses no matter the platform and I don’t use a stylus.
You are right though depends on what you use it for and for me that price for Chrome is too much, the extra functionality and power is worth it.
Nice device but should be $100 less.
“Don’t need android apps”
The obvious question here is why are you on a site called Ausdroid…
