Ahead of IFA Samsung owned speaker manufacturer Harman Kardon has unveiled a new luxury smart speaker powered by Google Assistant.

The Citation 500 is a high-end speaker offering more than your usual table-top speaker with 200W of power with support for 24Bits/96Khz High Definitiion audio streaming, inside a luxurious Nordic inspired design case with either black or grey wool speaker covers.

The top of the speaker includes a full colour LCD touch panel on the top for control.

The speaker has Google Assistant built-in which gives you access to search, smart home control, music streaming, access to thousands of Google Assistant apps from third parties and of course Chromecast support.

Michael Mauser, President, Lifestyle Audio at HARMAN said of the Citation 500

Our unprecedented audio legacy matched with the Kvadrat’s premium textiles has allowed us to develop this unique smart home speaker. Consumers today are looking for superior sound and superior design and with the Citation 500, that’s exactly what they’ll get.

The speaker will be available for pre-order in Europe from the end of September for £549 – around AUD$950. Harman Kardon haven’t announced local availability in Australia as yet but we’ll be checking in with them this week.
