Facebook’s effort to become the new AOL with an all inclusive ‘internet’ that keeps users within their website continues today with the global launch of Facebook Watch.
Facebook Watch launched in the US a year ago, as a ‘Platform For Shows On Facebook’. It’s basically YouTube for Facebook, so you can create and share videos with a channel, allowing you to build an audience if you’re a creator, or find new content creators with interesting video content all within the Facebook Watch platform.
Facebook Watch features video content on a vast array of topics such as entertainment, sports, news and more. You can subscribe to creators you like, with videos from them showing up in your Watchlist at the top of your Watch feed. If you don’t have time to watch a video you see streaming past in your News feed you can save it to your Watchlist to check out later.
Facebook says they’re working on making new tpes of video content including new ways to experience videos putting you at the centre. Facebook Watch will soon bring ‘Watch Parties, Premieres, and videos focused on audience participation — like the new trivia game show, Confetti’ and they’re also working to make it easier for you to find live videos as they’re happening.
Facebook Watch is going to be available everywhere, including on your desktop, mobile and even in your living room with apps for Apple TV, Samsung Smart TVs, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Xbox One, and Oculus TV. To find it in your Facebook app on Android (or iOS) you can just hit the Watch icon in your shortcuts bar or the “More” bookmark.
