As expected, HTC has today unveiled the new HTC U12 Life, a mid-range model of their excellent U12+ flagship. The phone was expected to follow on from last years excellent U11 Life as an Android One handset, however it appears it’s not the case.
The phone is a stunning design with HTC unveiling the phone in two gorgeous colours, Moonlight Blue and Twilight Purple, with a two tone effect on the rear a new twist on their Liquid Surface design.
The phone is mid-range in specs with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor and options for both RAM and storage with models containing 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of storage, with a dual SIM tray that allows you to use one slot for a microSD card to expand storage. The phone has a 6″ 18:9 aspect ratio display with a FHD+ 2,160×1,080 resolution offering a bright 1,500:1 contrast ratio. The phone also has a 3,600mAh battery to get you through the day.
Camera wise, the HTC U12 life will have a dual camera array on the rear with 16MP and 5MP sensors and an LED flash, while on the front you’ll get a 13MP sensor with HDR support and an LED flash as well. HTC has put all the sensors behind f/2.0 aperture lenses.

The HTC U12 Life will run Android 8.1 with HTC Sense on top, dashing the hopes of HTC fans for another Android One device.
HTC hasn’t announced global availability, merely that the phone will be available in Europe for £299/€349 euros) from late September. We’ll be checking in with HTC Australia tomorrow for any local launch plans.
