Sony has just made its new Xperia XZ3 flagship phone official at its IFA press conference in Berlin.

Packed with audio and visual technology designed to help “capture reality”, the Xperia XZ3 features a 6.0-inch 18:9 2880 x 1440 resolution display featuring OLED technology for deeper blacks, sharper images, richer and more vibrant colours.

Sony’s added a number of new AI features to the phone designed to help you find the right application for the time of day and activity you’re performing, and added a new Side Sense technology that brings up the recommended app with a tap to the side of the phone.

The Xperia XZ3 also brings back Sony’s well-regarded front-facing X-Force speakers and the Dyanmic Vibration feature that the company first debuted in the previous XZ2 model.

On the camera front, Sony seemed more interested in the enhancements to the front-facing camera (which is now 13MP and comes with enhancements like a better beauty mode and bokeh effects) and the 19MP Motion Eye camera seems to remain largely unchanged with a few features being called out like their Super Slow Motion (960fps at Full HD resolution) and 3D Creator app. The camera will now launch when you raise the phone in landscape mode though.

Internally the XZ3 is powered by a Snapdragon 845 processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage (with a microSD card slot supporting cards up to 512GB) and the 3330 mAh battery features Sony’s standard Stamina mode and Qnovo adaptive charging to keep your battery healthy longer.

Externally, the front of the phone features a top and bottom bezel – there’s no infamous notched displays here – and comes in white, black, green, and red colours. Sony says that the design is “inspired by the flow of light found in nature”, and those colours do look quite pretty, giving off a sense of an “inner glow” that Sony says is realised in a borderless design that sits nicely in the hand. The screen is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

We’ve come to expect quick adoption of new Android versions from Sony, and they don’t disappoint with the XZ3 – when it goes on sale in late September, it will be one of the first phones to ship with Android 9.0 (Pie). An Australian launch will hopefully follow soon after.

Sony worst phone every.. only have to look at it and both the screen and back will crack.

Not a fan of this direction sony is currently going in , other brands are adding bigger batteries in , and giving the option of 6/8 gb of ram ,
and as in the last model no dedicated headphone jack .
Apparently dynamic vibration chews through the battery .
Where is the incentive to buy a sony handset ?
