With the announcement of multi-lingual support and Routines in Google Assistant rolling out to Aussies this morning, if you don’t have a Google Home already it may be time to get one. Reports are rolling in of the Google Home and Google Home Mini both getting reduced in price – and if you’re in the market, you can grab a bargain on the Chromecast Ultra.
The three devices are normally priced at $199 for the Google Home, $79 for the Google Home Mini or $99 for the Chromecast Ultra, so the savings are pretty decent – though the Chromecast Ultra seems to be almost permanently discounted these days (maybe a new model coming soon?).
The Google Store is currently selling the Google Home Mini for $55 – though you can opt for the exclusive Coral coloured Home Mini there, the Google Home for $199 – though you can get a special fathers day deal of a free Chromecast 2 and the Chromecast Ultra (which is finally back in stock) for $99.
I’ve listed all the Australian retailers I can think of with links to the sites, but feel free to link us to any others you can find.
Google Home Mini | Google Home | Google Chromecast Ultra | |
---|---|---|---|
JB Hifi | $49 | $129 | $89 |
The Good Guys | $48 | $128 | $89 |
Officeworks | $48 | $128 | $89 |
Bing Lee | $55 | $139 | $89 |
Harvey Norman | $55 | $139 | $89 |
David Jones | $55 | $139 | $89 |
Telstra | $55 | $139 | N/A |

It’s Fathers Day this Sunday so if you’re looking for a good gift at the last minute these would probably make an ideal one.
Is it possible to run Google Home and Google Home Mini on the same network?
Absolutely, I have 3x Home Mini’s, 2x Google Home and 2x Home Max on my SSID at my place.
Edit: I may have issues but not with running them on the same network 😉
Small typo – the Chromecast Ultra is only $89 at Officeworks, not $189.
Got me another Mini from Officeworks this week. It was advertised at $55 but I only got charged $48 at checkout.
