Ultimate Ears have today released the next generation of their Bluetooth speakers, the BOOM 3 and the MEGABOOM 3.
Both the BOOM 3 and the MEGABOOM 3 are two-toned, fabric covered, IP67 waterproof, dust proof and drop proof speakers. The fabric wrapping around the speakers is a durable fabric apparently designed for applications such as motorcycle jackets and fire equipment (although I doubt the speakers are fire-proof).
Ultimate Ears have introduced a new “Magic Button” at the top of each speaker to allow the user to easily control the music playing from their Bluetooth device — play, pause and skip tracks directly on the speaker. The speakers both produce 360 degree sound that is perfect for parties and BBQs and support the POWER UP charging dock for wireless charging.

The MEGABOOM 3 is larger than the BOOM 3 at 225x89mm versus 184x73mm and as such provides a deeper bass than its smaller sibling. Both speakers also have improved Bluetooth range up to 45 metres with the possibility to connect up to two devices at a time. Multiple speakers can also be connected for the stereo sound — up to 150 speakers using the Ultimate Ears app.
These are high quality party speakers and are priced as such. Both speakers are available in September with the BOOM 3 retailing for RRP$199.95 and the MEGABOOM 3 for RRP$299.95. The POWER UP wireless charger retails for $49.95 and is sold separately to the speakers.
The other thing about these speakers is that they have no digital assistant. If you’re in a swimming pool, it’s handy to be able to give verbal instructions to the unit, to start or change the music selection. Without an assistant, you have to leave your smartphone lying outside, when you (the host) might need to run in and out of the house to bring the guests drinks and snacks. Outdoor speakers need an inbuilt digital assistant.
Actually if you push in the small pair button it invokes either Google assistant or Siri depending on your device and uses the speaker’s inbuilt microphones

Yes, the crucifix is bizarre. They must have noticed it. They must have deliberately designed it with that intent. I guess this company wants to make a religious statement. The unit might appeal to users who want to express a similar allegiance.
