We love the Chrome Dinosaur game, the one that appears and soothes the feeling of frustration you get when trying to surf the web in Chrome when you have no internet access. For Chrome’s 10th birthday, Google has updated the game with a few birthday treats.
The game is exactly the same to play, you jump cactus, and/or duck pterodactyls as you run along in the side-scrolling platformer. The birthday surprises come in the form of a cake in bright colours you can run into, which then add a colourful party hat to the Chrome Tyranosaur. There’s a slight colour change as it flicks to night, and you also get balloon shaped clouds in the background as you run along.
If you don’t want to go offline you can still access the Chrome Dino game in your mobile or desktop browser by going to chrome://dino.
The update is live now in Chrome with no update required, though it’s always worth updating your browser. But it’s live for me in Chrome 68 on mobile now.
