With the Razer gaming phone currently on sale at JB Hifi, it seems the company had enough success with the first one to warrant a second.

In the latest Interim Results 2018 financial report from Razer, the company has specifically stated that a Razer Phone 2 is under development.

The statement reads (Emphasis is ours):

With the launch of the Razer Phone in late 2017, Razer has since been widely recognised as the industry forerunner with the foresight of recognising the unmet demand for and being the first-mover to launch a mobile device for gamers, spawning a whole new category for the industry. The Group is very pleased with the success of its first generation Razer Phone, which was released in a limited run and has garnered very positive reviews internationally. Razer is now focusing its resources into the development of the second generation Razer Phone and accompanying software releases which will extend its software and services from PC into the mobile market.

Razer jumped into the phone market with the Razer phone last year after purchasing the makers of the Nextbit Robin, a phone which offloaded apps, photos and videos to the cloud when the phone ran low on space to solve storage issues.

The Razer Phone is a gaming focused phone with a 120Hz screen allowing for faster response – an essential spec when talking about gaming.

What the Razer Phone 2 will include is anyone’s guess, however the inclusion of the statement that they will ‘ extend its software and services from PC into the mobile market’ sounds intriguing.
