I know, there’s not much cross-over between multi-tools and Android, but most gadget fans I know who read Ausdroid also usually have a Leatherman multi-tool in their pocket, car, garage or somewhere. It’s on this basis that I thought we’d share the news that Tim Leatherman, the founder of Leatherman tools is heading to Australia in November.

Tim founded Leatherman back in 1983 after designing and creating the original Pocket Survival Tool (PST) after a trip around Europe and the Middle East in 1975 saw him need several tools during the car to repair a malfunctioning car and leaky hotel plumbing.

Leatherman tools are amongst the most reliable tools in the world and 35 years later you’d be hard pressed to find someone who regularly uses tools that hadn’t heard of the Leatherman brand. To celebrate the 35th anniversary of Leatherman, Tim is heading to Australia for a whirlwind tour visiting Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

Evan Blake, Brand Manager of Leatherman Australia says,

We’re honoured that this iconic tour will be coming to its completion here. Australians have been such huge supporters of the brand, and the fact that Tim is cramming so much into his time here is a true testament to how much he appreciates that. We’re hoping you can join us at our events, with further details on additional activities to be announced shortly.

If you head along to one of the events that Leatherman are hosting in the city, you’ll have the chance to meet Tim and have him engrave your tool as well as purchase one of the 35th anniversary Limited-Edition PST tools. At $349 The Limited-Edition PST is made of 100% stainless steel and has 14 tools in one including: Pliers, Wire Cutters, Hard-wire Cutters, 420HC Knife, Wood/Metal File, Screwdrivers, Ruler, Can Opener and Bottle Opener.
