The introduction of YouTube Music as an eventual replacement for Google Play Music hasn’t been the smoothest in the world, with many features missing from the service. Google is attempting to bring feature parity over time, and the latest is the introduction of Top Charts.
From today, you’ll be able to see YouTube Charts available in YouTube Music as playlists. There’s five playlists being added Top Songs, showing the most played songs on YouTube, Top Videos, showing the most viewed music videos, and Top Trending. Google is offering both local and global playlists for the Top Songs and Top Videos categories, letting you see what’s happening in your area and around the world.
Australians can get access to YouTube Music for AU$11.99/month or go all in on YouTube with the YouTube Premium service which includes YouTube Music as well as ad-free videos on the platform for AU$14.99 per month.
If you’re a music fan you’ll probably watching the transition from Google Play Music to YouTube Music with interest and while there’s a long way to go, this is at least progress.
Next if they could create a widget, that would be wonderful! There have been a few minor issues but its been pretty good for me! I really have enjoyed the “My Mix” feature!
Can we get songs without music video sound effects and artists advertising themselves at the end like the videos?
I have been using the free music storage offer for many years. I have about 10,000 songs of my own purchased music in the Google Play Music private cloud. Not just purchases from Google Play Music but tracks from ripped CDs and mp3s purchased elsewhere. What will happen to that service when the transition is finalised? No mention of it that I have seen. Most people seem to not even know that you can make your own private streaming service for free. Lucky you can still buy phones that support SD cards so I can always revert to local storage.
