Ahead of an announcement at the upcoming BETT education show in the UK starting on Friday, HP has today unveiled a new range of education focused Chromebooks heading to Australia.
There are three models in the new range which HP says are purpose-built for students with power, durability and design in mind. The focus on education also extends to the Chromebooks all receiving MIL-STD810G certification which includes the ability to survive a drop from up to 76cm, as well as having an IP41 dust/water resistance rating which is also includes a splash resistant keyboard.
The three Chromebooks include the HP Chromebook 11A G6 Education Edition, powered by an AMD which will be available from the 29th January 2019, the HP Chromebook x360 11 G2 Education Edition, and the HP Chromebook 11 G7 Education Edition, powered by Intel powered by Intel Celeron processors.
All three come with 11.6″ HD resolution display, but you may have to specifically opt for the touch screen option on the HP Chromebook 11A G6 EE model. The HP Chromebook x360 11 G2 comes with a 360-degree hinged display, while the other two models come with a durable 180° hinge allowing you to lay the Chromebooks flat on a desk.

HP Chromebook x360 11 G2 EE
HP Chromebook 11 G7 EE
The Chromebooks run Chrome OS (obvs) as well as having full support for Android apps through Google Play. HP is also including their Classroom Manager software allowing teachers greater control of classroom PCs.
HP has given the date for the release of the HP Chromebook 11A G6 EE as January 29th, but haven’t supplied any pricing just yet. The HP Chromebook x360 11 G2 EE and HP Chromebook 11 G7 EE are arriving in Australia this year, but HP have simply given ‘coming soon’ as the release date and we’ll be getting pricing closer to the launch date.
It’s been some time since we saw info on general Chromebook releases here in Australia but they are gaining popularity for use in the classroom across the Catholic Education Office and in the public school system. We’re excited to see more models arriving
