Here at Ausdroid we have been open about the software on OPPO phones. Their phones are some of the best hardware in the business but unfortunately their software experience has not lived up to the high level set by the hardware.
Slowly but surely they have been improving their software which we have acknowledged and eaten our fair share of humble pie (and it tasted great, not bitter at all). Now in their next iteration of ColorOS they are set to improve it even more, all with the addition of a simple app drawer.
Most of us here are power users and would normally use a third party launcher but the majority of OPPO users would not. This new addition gives them more flexibility with how they want to use their phone.
Beginning with ColorOS 6 OPPO will be including an app drawer in the default launcher but the drawer will not be default – instead it will be optional. Along with the improved launcher OPPO will optimising their default web browser to allow it to use a lot less battery compared to third party browsers.
If OPPO continue to improve their software it will eventually match their impressive hardware. Once it does the other manufacturers had better watch out because there will be nothing stopping them then.
Im not a professional on mobile, but get the Oppo. They are great amazing phones there fast in everyway, the Colors and display are great, and I don’t understand people giving them bad reviews
The fastest recharger in the world
The face recognition is also fast
A very fast processer no lag
Amazing camera and video is 4k
Inglass finger print reader
Shrinking bezels tiny notches
NFC on most phones,so why the bad reviews. I even notice I had a few updates on mine.
I got an oppo the other day as my in between phone while my pixel 2 xl is in for repairs. Holy crap. What a dumpster fire. ColorOS is terrible. Everything is locked down. I’m a developer and developer mode is such a pain in the ass. USB debugging turns itself off after 10 mins, you have this yellow bar up the tip when it’s enabled so you can’t see the time. You can’t easily root it. You can’t flash it with anything else. If you love android don’t buy an oppo, everything that is great about android is taken… Read more »
My Oppo R15 Pro is excellent. But yes the stock UI is so close to an iPhone it drives me nuts. I have had a launcher on it since day 1.
There was a recent update but I do not notice any change.
I’m still in love with my Oppo. The first I think, the F1s. Has been perfect. can’t justify spending more when still functions great.
I’ve had my Oppo for five years, the battery life is still great, the recharge is still fast, I’ve dropped it more times than I can remember and it has never broken. I only had a clear case on it for the first year. The functions have only slowed a little. I should probably upgrade but they have never released the same size or colour. The speaker isn’t great and the Ok Google doesn’t work but everything else is amazing. I hate that they won’t release another version of the R7 Plus because I want one that has ncf. I’m… Read more »
Sure, Oppo may be improving their software, but unfortunately if you want the new software you have to buy a new phone. They seem to forget about their previous phones as soon they release a new one… Which seems to be every 5 minutes.
Tell me about it, I’m still waiting for the mythical major OS update to my R9s Plus which never arrived. Posted here on Ausdroid if you do a search… It had an ETA of Q4 2017
The R9s Plus was their high end most expensive phone in Australia on launch and it never received an Android OS update, ever! It’s still stuck on Android 6.0.1 which is what it launched with. It’s now sitting on the June 2018 Security patch and completely abandoned by Oppo.
Absolutely pathetic support about it and lies about updates which never occurred.
