Foldable phones will be everywhere this year and rumours have pointed to Samsung announcing theirs at their Unpacked event in San Francisco next week. Via their social media channels today Samsung have effectively confirmed that narrative.
In a teaser video for the event Samsung show a lot of folding, both in and out which may or may not be significant (we think not) and of course the tag line of “The Future Unfolds” is a dead giveaway that it is coming next week. Very little else is shown in the teaser video aside from the date of Unpacked (20th February – US time) and that you can watch it live on Samsung.com.
Very little has been leaked about the foldable Galaxy phone. Samsung have definitely controlled the leaks of it sending out little teasers themselves as well as showing off a prototype late last year. Although we know basically everything there is to know about the Galaxy S10 phones the foldable Galaxy remains a mystery – although it has been reported to be very expensive, a price such as never seen before.
You can be sure we will be covering the Samsung Unpacked as it happens or if you want to watch along yourself head on over to the Samsung website on the 21st of February, Australian time.
Is anyone actually considering buying a foldable Galaxy? Or is it more just for interest’s sake to see what is next in the world of smartphones?
The future un-FOLD-s, I see what they did there! 😉 Uhum. Anyway yeah I’m very interested in a Samsung foldable phone (and it’s my upgrade year this year). My main concern is that it won’t come with flagship (i.e. S10+) specs in terms of processor, RAM etc. as it’s their initial toe in these waters. Or that they’ll only release it in Korea or somesuch
