The LG G8 ThinQ is set to be announced at MWC this year and LG are slowly revealing small snippets to get us interested. Today they have revealed how the phone will produce sound as it lacks the traditional top speaker.
LG have termed their new technology Crystal Sound OLED (CSO). CSO works by using the OLED display as a diaphragm, vibrating the entire surface of the display to produce sound at a loud volume. The resultant sound is crystal clear making voices and musical notes easily distinguishable.
When placed into speakerphone mode the bottom firing speaker is used to produce bass sound giving a 2-channel audio setup.
By developing new technologies as well as working closely in partnership with the audio industry’s best partners, LG will continue to deliver the quality of sound that consumers demand and deserve.Chang Ma, SVP and head of product strategy at LGE Mobile
Along with these new features the LG G8 ThinQ will include:
- DTS:X 3D Surround Sound to emulate a 7.1-channel system with or without earphones, a first for LG
- Hi-Fi Quad DAC elevates the listening experience by reproducing sound with exceptional fidelity with the added ability to up-sample most audio files for increased clarity and depth
- Master Quality Authenticated (MQA) support for high-quality audio streaming even without an unlimited data plan
The LG G8 ThinQ is set to be announced at MWC in just over a week’s time. You can bet we will be there getting hands on with this phone and its new innovations.
