OPPO has returned to the stage in India overnight to release their latest camera-focused devices the OPPO F11 and F11 Pro. The two devices are very similar in specs with only minor screen, camera and memory differences. At launch they are headed to the Indian and South East Asian markets and we’re not sure we’ll see them officially here in Australia but they represent a shift in design focus by OPPO.
The OPPO F11 series features the two different devices with the standard model including a tear drop notch that houses the 16MP front facing camera. The F11 Pro on the other hand includes a pop up camera allowing for an almost full frame display. Both feature the same FHD+ LCD display (one sans notch), octo-core Mediatek processor, dual rear ‘portrait master’ camera with a 28MP + 5Mp configuration and a 16MP ‘selfie’ camera. OPPO are well known for making really great hardware and it’s a shame that these devices won’t be making their way to Australia. With both representing reasonable affordability and including features such as fingerprint sensors, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0 and a headphone jack there would be quite a few people who would find the OPPO F11 series appealing.
The use of a MicroUSB in such great devices is a little disappointing, the quicker all devices move to the new USB-C standard the quicker we can progress through the slow and painful change over. The OPPO F11 Pro is on sale in India for INR 24,990, whihc is about $500 AUD and the OPPO F11 is on sale for INR 19,9920 or around $400 AUD.
For Australians the devices represent a possible change in design language by OPPO with their flagships heading for non-notch front facing camera solutions. You can be sure that when we see the latest F and Find series land here that there will be at least one phone in each series to include a slide up or pop-up camera. We welcome this change and hope to be at the front of the line to test out their new front-facing camera solutions.
