Like previous Note devices, Samsung’s Note 10 is expected to be a mobile processing powerhouse. However, the latest reports say the new device won’t include Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon SoC.
The Snapdragon 855 Plus was announced yesterday, featuring more power and a faster graphics processor than the current vanilla Snapdragon 855. The processor refresh means that late-releasing devices won’t be as outdated when Qualcomm usually releases new processors in December. Extra processing power is provided with an overclocked graphics chip and a higher boost frequency on the CPU core.
Reports overnight though have stated that the Note 10 American and Chinese variants will feature the SD855 and not the SD855Plus.
It’s worth noting that unless you purchase an American or Chinese Samsung variant, the device will feature Samsung’s own Exynos processor instead, and an upgraded one over that in the Galaxy S10. In recent Samsung devices the Exynos processors are a little slower in 3D gaming than the Qualcomm offering, but feature more cores, making them better at multi-threaded work loads. The local Note 10 will feature a newer Exynos SoC than those inside the S10 series devices.
So far, the Snapdragon 855 Plus is only confirmed for the Asus ROG Phone II. The new processor may also be included in the upcoming Google Pixel 4.
