Everyone grew up with Lego and it still remains popular to this day. Kids love it and now more and more older kids will hopefully stay involved with the creative skill required for Lego building with the launch of their new AR range called Hidden Side.
The new Lego Hidden Side brings the Lego brick building to life through the use of augmented reality allowing the user to experience truly interactive gameplay that brings their “Lego set to life”. Using an app to created the AR experience, kids are challenged to solve “paranormal mysteries and capture tiny AR ghosts” to turn the haunted world back to normal.
Inside the app kids can choose which one of two characters they would like to be and then use their mobile devices to explore their “hometown” and solve the challenges and mysteries under the surface of the world. Not only does the app bring the Lego model to life through AR it also offers several short games that cans can play independently of the Lego building set.
Physical manipulation of the LEGO model alters the AR experience, and the AR experience prompts new things to discover in the physical models, creating a deeply engaging reciprocal play experience in two worlds that has never been seen before.Tom Donaldson, SVP, Creative Play Lab at the LEGO Group
After launch Lego will be updating the app continually with it continuing to expand with the addition of new ghosts, game challenges and randomisation of gameplay resulting in a different experience for the kids each time they play.
LEGO Hidden Side range comprising eight new products is now available at LEGO.com and at all major retailers, starting from $29.99 ranging up to $199.99. The Lego Hidden Side app is available as a free download on the Play Store.
