Lenovo has jumped the gun and announced two new IdeaPad laptops ahead of IFA.
First up is the IdeaPad S340, which serves as an entry into the lineup. It features a 13-inch display, 8 hour battery life, and weighs just 1.3kg, making it a perfect option for the budget-conscious student. Options include Intel’s mobile U series 10th generation processors, DDR3 memory, and up to 512GB of SSD storage. It comes in grey, blue or pink.
The higher end model is the IdeaPad S540, which gets you a 1440p 13-inch screen, and a bump up in processing power with an extra 6-core i7 U series processor, and the option to go for team red with an AMD Ryzen 5 3500U or Ryzen 7 3700U processor. Memory and storage also gets better on the S540, with a move to DDR4 and up to 1TB of SSD storage. The IdeaPad S540 comes in white, blue or silver.
Both laptops have customisation options with different processors, and up to 16GB of RAM, along with an NVIDIA MX250 graphics processor. While neither laptop is exactly a powerhouse for gaming, they should run basic 3D games with modest settings at an acceptable performance level with the NVIDIA chip.
The Lenovo IdeaPad S540 will go on sale in Europe around October for €799. No pricing or launch data is available for the IdeaPad S340 yet. Local pricing and availability is yet to be announced.
