The Reno series has been a boon for OPPO this year with some great premium, mid-range and entry-level phones. What we haven’t seen though is a successor to the successful ultra-premium Find X but it seems we will in the next couple of months.
Over in China at OPPO’s Innovation Day XDA’s Editor in Chief Mishaal Rahman had a discussion with OPPO that revealed that we won’t be waiting long for a new Find X with the Find X2 set to be released very soon.
The Find series has been OPPO’s innovative ultra-premium line other with tech and functionality yet to make it to the mainstream — the Reno and Find series each target a different audience according to OPPO. Next year’s Find X2 looks set to be no different with it including “the company’s latest breakthrough technologies”.
Mishaal was also able to garner details about the internals of the phone itself with it set to involved a collaboration with Sony on “their latest image sensor technology”. The Find X2 will be using Sony’s 2 x 2 On-Chip Lens Solution which brings an “All Pixel omni-directional PDAF” along with a larger sensor size for better low light photography. The new solution improves focus performance no matter the subject shape or pattern. Hopefully this will lift OPPO’s photography into the upper echelons of smartphone photography.
As you would expect from an ultra-premium phone in 2020, it will be powered by the newly announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 which of course will be paired with an X55 5G modem. The display is where OPPO are putting a lot of focus on the display with it most likely to have a high refresh rate, high resolution and high dynamic range.
It is odd that we have not seen much in the way of leaks regarding this phone so far, especially with it set to be released so soon. I dare say that we will start seeing them soon. It is good to see OPPO releasing another true ultra-premium smartphone, hopefully they can continue to improve the quality of their software to match their great hardware.
