OnePlus was one of very few smartphone manufacturers who made a meaningful appearance at CES 2020 last week. Not content with that showing where they displayed a revolutionary new rear camera module they are set to show off even more new tech in just over a day at their own convention.
In Shenzhen at 2pm (Beijing time) on the 13th of January (tomorrow), according to a post of Chinese social media site Weibo, they will show off some for of new screen technology. There is very little given away by the teaser/ad for the convention but speculation is rife.
Last year OnePlus were one of the first “mainstream” manufacturers to put a 90Hz display in their smartphone so some are thinking that the new tech will be some form of 120Hz display. We find it difficult to believe OnePlus would hold a dedicated conference just to announce their 120Hz display, given that other manufacturers have already done it (ASUS, Xiaomi etc).
If the image on the teaser is anything to go by the display will be some form of full screen display and importantly, not be a curved display. It is possible that they will show off their under-display selfie camera but that could be a bit of a stretch.
We will have to keep a close eye on it tomorrow and see just what One Plus have in store for us. It is great to see what used to be such a small company, OnePlus starting to push the boundaries of innovation themselves. Hopefully their growth this year translates into growing into the Australian market.
