Others have tried but in the end, so far, only one has succeeded, Samsung. Stylus phones are few and far between and this year it looks like there will be another manufacturer having a crack at making a phone with a stylus — Motorola.

According to a Tweet from Evan Blass Motorola will be launching a new phone this year with a stylus on board. The Tweet does not give much away but it does have an official-looking render showing a Motorola smartphone with a stylus next to it.

The phone is very Motorola with what seems to be a very minimal skin over Android along with a punch hole display and a near full-screen display. There is of course, as mentioned above, a stylus in front of the phone with the end of the stylus indicating it will slide into the phone ala the Galaxy Note line. There also appears to be some indentations and bumps on the end of the stylus most likely to increase its functionality — possibly via Bluetooth.

With the Motorola Z4 already apparently supporting active styluses it shouldn’t be too much of a jump for them to add support to a new phone. It is unclear what added features they will bring with the stylus but you would expect them to add some stylus-specific apps.

The date on the clock widget is April 3 and given how manufacturers like to put release dates on renders it is likely that Motorola will announce this new phone on April 3 this year.

We look forward to seeing another Motorola phone and especially one with a stylus. Hopefully it makes it here to Australia to give those here another decent option alongside the Galaxy Note series.
