The OPPO Find X2 has to be one of my most anticipated phones of 2020 and the time is drawing close until the announcement. Although OPPO are yet to make an official announcement of the rescheduling of their announcement, originally slated for MWC, the rumours and leaks continue to occur.
Tonight the OPPO Find X2 has appeared on a Thai online store along with some of the specs. Now this late in the game it does not take a Rhodes scholar to be able to figure out a few of these specs anyway based on rumours, leaks, announcements by OPPO and their VP Brian Shen, along with elementary deductions my dear Watson. Even with all this it is still a bit of a shock for a site to list all of these details on their site, well before the announcement.
As of the time of writing this the placeholder for the Find X2 (not the Pro version) was still online stating, as you can see in the image above, that it will arrive with 256GB of internal memory, a 6.5-inch AMOLED display (with 120Hz refresh rate), 8GB of RAM and a triple rear camera of 48MP, 8MP and 13MP. The front camera is set to be 32MP as well according to the listing.
Now do I think this listing is real and accurate? No. Simple as that. There IS a small chance that this is the Find X2 and the dual selfie camera, the quad rear camera with 60x hybrid zoom and the Snapdragon 865 with 5G support is the difference between the Find X2 and the Find X2 Pro but I find it hard to believe that OPPO would put these middling (I say middling when compared to what has been rumoured and we expect from an ultra premium flagship) in what is meant to be their ultra-premium brand name — the Find X.
Personally I think that the difference between the two will be in the camera and that is about it. It is possible the standard Find X2 will only have a single front facing camera but I would expect it to have a Snapdragon 865 and thus 5G support, along with more than 8GB of RAM.
So where does this leave us? Just as we were before. In the dark about the difference between the two versions. It is possible that all the rumours of the high specs were for the undiscovered Pro version at the time but I find it hard to believe OPPO would produce a mid-range Find X2. Let’s hold onto our hats and wait and see. Hopefully we still get both versions here, why not have more choice?
What do you think?
