Alongside their new X50 Pro 5G realme announced their foray into the world of IoT last night, calling their product range AIoT (that is artificial intelligence of things). Catering to younger members of the community they are designed to be “organic and integrated” and to give their users “exciting experiences” while making their lives easier.
realme have grouped their AIoT products into three categories — Personal, Home and Travel.
The personal category comprises audio and wearables. The audio discussed included basic headphones, true wireless earbuds and ANC earphones. We assume each of these will include their digital assistant built into each product. Wearables included smartwatches and bands — there was a brief mention of the new realme Band, their first wearable product, releasing next month.
The home category covers all of the usual IoT home products including smart screens (which looks suspiciously like a TV but wouldn’t surprise us if it also included smaller smart displays), smart speakers, soundbars and smart home appliances. Last night they did not embellish much on these plans and very little is known at this stage about any of them.
Travel was a category totally glossed over and very little at all was said about it aside from it being electronics products that pay special attention to design and quality.
There was no mention of the digital assistant in use but realme have told Ausdroid that their AIoT products are planned to support Google Assistant — showing just how early in their development that are.
Amongst all of this realme also launched their app to control their AIoT products, realme Link. This will allow users to control their devices easily and conveniently although for the home category if they do indeed support Google Assistant you would expect to be able to integrate into your Google Home app for control. The app will also be used to control their smartwatches, headphones etc.
Ausdroid has been told by realme that they are looking to bring their AIoT products to Australia this year but at this stage details are scarce. We will let you know when we know more.
