Motorola is on a winner with their near stock Moto G line of devices, and today they have taken the wraps of their latest variant, the Moto G8. The Moto G8 sits in the middle of the pack when compared to other G8 devices such as the Moto G8 Plus, G8 Power or G8 Macro.
The Moto G7 launched around the $400 mark in Australia making it a rather affordable device and we expect the G8 to be similar. With a 6.4-inch HD display, Snapdragon 665, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage the G8 is not an entry level phone.

With those specs the Moto G8 will be a solid performer across the board able to handle all but the most taxing of apps and games with ease. The SD 665 paired with a 4000 mAh battery should also provide all day battery life with alot left in the tank.
Camera performance is typically the area that you compromise in the mid tier unless you’re willing to spend around $750. Under that price you will make some sacrifice in the camera performance. That’s not to say that you can’t get great images out of the Moto G8’s triple rear camera array. The real test of the camera performance will come to light during any hands on or review opportunities we get.
The UK variant of the Moto G8 does not have NFC and it would be a real miss if the Australian SKU didn’t include the wireless payment technology, considering the ubiquity of NFC payments here in Australia. We have reached out to Moto Australia for details of the Australian model and will update as details come available.

SD665 and a 720p screen? It’s 2020 Motorola, the game has moved on. Unless it undercuts the competition which is doing double the RAM/storage and AMOLED 1080p screen at this price point it’s not worth considering.
Something like a Realme 5 has similar specs, double the storage and is $299

Agree. I’ll wait for the G8 Power which has a 1080 x 2300 pixels (~399 ppi density) screen. No NFC I can live with .
