Sony’s last release of high end headphones turned heads — and ears — with many insisting that they were the best possible headphones in each category. Today they have announced successors to those products with a new set of true wireless and some high end over the ear noise cancelling headphones.
WF-XB700 Truly Wireless headphones
The true wireless XB700 are a small lightweight set of in ear headphones which offer up to nine hours of music per charge with another nine hours in the charging case should you run out on the go. If you do run out they have a fast charging function where just ten minutes of charging will provide 60 minutes of playback.
Along with their noise cancelling they include an IPX4 water resistant rating giving them splash and sweat proof protection. Sony promise that they deliver “precise, punchy rhythms …for a superbly rich, well-rounded listening experience”.
Over ear WH-CH710N
With the mouthful of a name which we have come to expect from Sony the WH-CH710N use Sony’s special Artificial Intelligence Noise Cancellation (AINC) technology which constantly analyses the ambient sound components and automatically selected the most effective noise cancelling mode for the user. with dual microphones pointing forwards and backwards the headphones can capture more ambient noise than ever making their AINC much better.
As per usual the Sony WH-CH710N have NFC to allow for one touch pairing and include a Li-ion battery that will give you up to 35 hours of audio playback in a single charge. As for the truly wireless headphones, just ten minutes of charging will give you an hour of playback.
The oval-shaped soft earpads and adjustable metal slider allow for a comfortable fit so you can wear them longer.
Last time Sony were at the top of the heap with the sound they produced in their headphones, you can be sure they will be up there once again with these. At this stage Australian pricing and availability is yet to be announced but you can be sure they will not be cheap — high quality audio this good never is. We will let you know when we hear more.
