Just the other day we got “notice” that a second generation of the Motorola Razr was set to arrive in September of this year. Now more details have emerged suggesting that the specs within the new flip phone will be much improved over the very average specs of the first generation.
According to XDA Developers, the next Motorola Razr, codenamed “smith” and with the model name “XT2071-4” will come equipped with a Snapdragon 765 with 5G enabled (through a Snapdragon X52 modem most likely). Alongside this 700 series Snapdragon processor will be 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage and a 2,845mAh battery.
As you would hope, the rear camera is getting an upgrade to a 48MP sensor and the front camera upgraded to a 20MP lens. The camera capabilities of this years first generation Razr have been extremely disappointing, some of which you could put down to the hardware (and of course some to software).
Speaking of software, the new version will run Android 10, as you would hope, and the Quick View display will see a lot of improvements.
The Motorola Razr saw quite a few issues with the display early on but there are no details just yet of if and how Motorola hope to improve the display. The phone though is one that every single Ausdroider wants to do well with the form factor exciting us.
Hopefully Motorola can learn from the missteps of generation one and iterate on the good features with generation two. We don’t see why they could not and are still excited to see the results. Hopefully they can also manage to bring the phone in at a more affordable price.
