We’ve been seeing leaks for the impending Xiaomi Android TV streaming stick for months now, with regulatory filings and specs slowly leaking out. Now the entire device and it’s retail packaging has leaked out leaving absolutely nothing to the imagination.

The device itself is unremarkable, with a HDMI plug at one end and a micro-USB for power near the lower end — apart from the Mi branding that’s about it. The remote is similarly plain with the standard Android TV control buttons including a dedicated Assistant button along with dedicated Netflix and Amazon Prime buttons.

The retail packaging has also leaked alongside which doesn’t really add a lot to the conversation but does confirm Dolby Digital 2.0 Plus pass-though for digital audio if you have a compatible player. The full specs of the device are listed as:

  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB eMMC storage
  • 2.0GHz quad-core Cortex-A53 processor with Mali-450 GPU
  • Android TV 9.0
  • 1080p output
  • Bluetooth 4.2
  • Google Assistant
  • Bluetooth remote with Voice Assistant key and dedicated Netflix and Amazon Prime Video buttons
  • Support for Dolby Audio and DTS Surround Sound
  • Dual-Band Wi-Fi
  • Ports – HDMI (2.0a), MicroUSB port

According to the leak the device will be available from July 15, it’s unlikely that we will see the Xiaomi TV Stick released officially in Australia, but when has that ever stopped us getting our grubby little swagman hands on one!

I wonder if it can trigger her modes etc on compatible TVs. It’s pass through abilities would be important. Unclear from article is Dolby DD or DTS. Been burnt by Mi Box S in past that states sorry then was not licenced.

1gb of ram was fine for me with Mi Box S for those seeing this as an issue

Yeh 1gb ram means it’s no better than the Vodafone TV or the mi box s. Although in saying that I’ve never had a problem with Android tv and 1GB ram.. However not being released here makes me question about 4k Stan support etc.. Likely costs much more than the Vodafone TV box and still requires external power so form factor isn’t really that beneficial unless it could power from hdmi and usb port on TV only.
