OPPO are blanketing all segments of our smartphone market with decent devices and they have just announced two more entry-level phones to their stable of devices.
The OPPO A53 and A53s are both sub-$350 devices with what, on the surface, appear to be some decent specs and features for such a small cost. Both devices sport large 6.5-inch displays with 90Hz refresh rates, 5,000mAh batteries, triple rear camera setups and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 chipset.
The A53s combines the above with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage — expandable to 256GB through the microSD slot alongside the dual SIM capabilities. The A53 also comes with 4GB of RAM but includes just 64GB of storage but it is also expandable.
The 5,000mAh battery is supported by 18W fast charging along with their own power saving mode to extend the battery life for another 6.5hours of music playback when the battery notifies it is at a level of just five percent.
Both devices have the same triple rear camera setup — a 13MP main camera, a 2MP depth camera and a 2MP macro camera along with an 8MP selfie camera in a punch hole display. OPPO have included their AI software to some extent to allow for natural looking images in just about any lighting condition.
Both devices include a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor among a modern, colourful “Iridescent Wave Design” which uses a curved body to give it a premium look and feel.
The A53s is available now in Fancy Blue (yes that really is the name), and Electric Black now from Telstra, JB Hi-Fi, Woolworths, Mobileciti, Bing Lee and Amazon for just $349.
The A53 is available in a Mint Cream and Electric Black for just $299 from JB Hi-Fi, Woolworths, Mobileciti, Bing Lee and Amazon.
While on the surface these devices do not hold a candle to some of the mid-range devices we are seeing but remember they are entry level devices priced below $350. If you are looking for a basic phone that does most things at an acceptable level without setting the world on fire then these are definitely right in your wheelhouse.
