realme are making some decent inroads into the Australian market through their competitive pricing combined with decent hardware. They are set to make an even stronger imprint in the entry level market with the release of the C11 and C12.
At sub-$250 you should not go expecting high end chipsets or camera but what the C11 and C12 pack is usable considering the cheap pricing. Both devices come sporting a Mediatek MT6765 which is a decent but still entry level chipset with the C11 sporting just 2GB of RAM and the C12 3GB. Included in both models is the headphone jack — something really only seen on entry level and some mid-level phones these days.
realme C12
The realme C12 arrives sporting a triple rear camera that includes a 13MP main camera with AI support along with a 2MP mono and a 2MP macro camera. Supporting these is a 5MP front camera inside a water drop notch.
The display is a 6.5-inch “mini drop” display resulting in a screen to body ratio of a decent 88 percent. The device sports a rear fingerprint sensor along with support for facial recognition unlock but no NFC — which is a surprise.
The battery is where this device is a big winner with a massive 6,000mAh battery so you shouldn’t have to charge it during the day not matter what your usage pattern.
The C12 also has a triple slot SIM tray for dual SIM support along with microSD expansion at the same time — it has just 32GB of storage so you will no doubt need that expansion slot.
Available next week on the 12th November from the realme e-store, JB Hi-Fi, Bing Lee, Make it Mine, mobileciti, 5GWORLD, Essential Appliance Rentals, Amazon, Kogan, eBay and Catch.com for just $249 it is available in a Marine Blue and a Coral Red.
realme C11
The realme C11 is a slight step down, housing just a dual rear camera setup which includes the same 13MP main camera and 5MP selfie camera as on the C12.
It still has the same 6.5-inch “mini drop” display but the battery is just a “mere” 5,000mAh — still plenty enough to see you through a day or two. There is facial recognition present but it not only lacks NFC but also a fingerprint sensor. The C11 is also dual SIM and microSD compatible.
The realme C11 is available in Pepper Grey and Mint Green for just $199 from the 12th of November also at realme e-store, JB Hi-Fi, Bing Lee, Make it Mine, mobileciti, 5GWORLD, Essential Appliance Rentals, Amazon, Kogan, eBay and Catch.com.
Both devices are yet another step down in pricing and the specs reflect that — if you play in this price range you should not expect more. For a phone that does basic messaging, phone calls and surfing these are ideal and given the pricing they offer decent value for money — just don’t expect premium level performance from them.
