With the smart home – or is that helpful home? – gaining mainstream consumer traction we are seeing more and more OEMs bring their wares to Australia. Lenovo has been in and around the space for a while now with their original Smart Displays and more recently the first Assistant-powered Smart Clock. We heard earlier in the year that they would be bringing their Smart Home products our way but haven’t seen much on shelves yet – until today.
Lenovo is now offering a Starter Pack at JB Hi-fi with their Smart Clock, a colour-changing smart bulb and a smart plug in a single value pack at $149.
Individually, those products would come to a little over $160, so the starter pack offers a modest discount but when it goes on sale it may be a very enticing option.
We’ve currently got a Lenovo Smart Clock on the review bench and for those looking at a Google Home Mini (or who are interested in Assistant devices in general) who can afford the upgrade it’s a device well worth considering.
Stock for their Smart Home devices also seems to have arrived finally, with both the Smart Bulbs ($20 for white, $30 for RGB) and Smart Plugs ($30) available.
They’re all hub-less WiFi devices that pair to your network via a Lenovo app, and after that you can link them to the Google Assistant and and control them with the Assistant or the Google Home app.
The Lenovo Smart Plug is of interest at Ausdroid HQ as it looks to be narrow enough to fit two-abreast in a standard Australian power point (a sadly unique feature in the marketplace). At $29 it’s not the cheapest on the market and there’s no USB-out, but being narrow may just be enough to make me want to get a few for my house.
JB Hi Fi seems to be the only place currently offering the Lenovo Smart Clock Starter Pack as well as the individual bulbs and plugs. Let us know if you see them elsewhere.

I already have the Lenevo Smart Alarm, love it, about to get at least one more for my daughter(s). We also have the Lenovo 10″ in the Kitchen so that the family can get recipes and other information. We had planned to get a Google Home Hub at Christmas, but when I went into JB Hi-Fi in the post-Christmas sales, I compared the 10″ Lenovo against the Home Hub and for a kitchen device, the Lenovo was hands-down better (and it… Read more »
