Fishbone
USB charging station Fishbone has officially kicked off their Kickstarter campaign overnight, gaining almost $7,000 worth of backers in their first day.

The charging station offers a compact solution for people looking to charge up to five devices at once, with the added bonus of cable management built-in to create a neater solution for gadget aficionados. The stand contains five USB ports, with auto-sensing technology to automatically deliver the optimal charge to the device plugged in.

Fishbone encourages users to wrap the cable around the fishbone design to minimise unsightly cables laying over your desk, the stand can then be used to prop up devices.

The Fishbone Kickstarter campaign is off to a flyer with the project already a fifth of the way towards their $30,000 goal, with 29 days left to run. Rewards for the campaign start at US$29 for a single Fishbone, with an additional US$8 added for delivery to Australia. Other options including microUSB and Lightning cables for Apple devices are on offer if that floats your boat.

Fishbone expects to begin shipping units out in Mid-December this year, but as with all Kickstarter projects, that date could slip. There are other options out there, but this is one of the more compact solutions we’ve seen so far, so we recommend you head over and check it out.

As usual with all projects of this type, we are here to inform not advocate backing the project. All projects on Kickstarter have no guarantee that they’ll end up being produced even if their goal is reached, so please ensure you are aware of all the terms and conditions before you back a project.

With all those cable windings and current, all you need is a metal rod through the middle and you could make a quite a powerful electromagnet too!

I just wish my Belkin Conserve Valet had more output power.
