If your new Nexus 5X or Nexus 6P has just arrived, or is about to arrive, the first thing you’re probably going to need are a few extra USB-C cables so you can charge your Nexus 5X or Nexus 6P at work, in the car, or on the nightstand.
With the change to USB C, most microUSB cables are now obsolete (insofar as Nexus devices are concerned), and it’s rather unsurprising that we sold all the ones we had fairly quickly. Selling things far cheaper than the Google Store might have something to do with it …
Well, good news everyone! The USB-C cables are back in stock on the Ausdroid Shop, ready for y’all to snap up.
USB 2.0ย to USB-C Cable โ 1.0m โ Black and White
- Reversible Type C connector (thereโs no wrong way to plug it into a port).
- Reversible plug orientation and cable direction.
- Charge your phoneย from a USB power source including car chargers, wall plugs, power banks and even other laptops.
- Supports scalable power charging
These cables are $12.95 ea,and are available in black and whiteย for immediate shipment.
MicroUSB to USB-C adaptor
If you’ve got a MicroUSB charger that you can’t bear to give up (like my one I’ve run through the dashboard of the car), one of these adaptor cables will let you use your favourite charger with your new Nexus phone.
We received a new shipment of these today, and they sell fast. Don’t miss out.
The MicroUSB to USB-C adaptors are available for $16.95 each.
Quick Chargers for the car and office
- If you haven’t got a Quick Charger yet, now’s a good time; we’ve got them for the car and for the home/office.
- The Nexus 5X / Nexus 6Pย don’t support Quick Charge, but these chargersย do provide a lot of juice to the new Nexus phones, charging them pretty damned fast.
You can grab the AUKey Dual USB Turbo Car Charger for $36.95, and my personal favourite, the AUKey 5-port USB Wall Charger for $57.95. If you’re a true gadgeteer, the latter is a great investment, putting out 4 x 2.4A ports and one QC 2.0 port.
These have both been really popular with new Nexus owners, and they sell quick.
Something fun to do? Grab some Cardboard
If you love showing off technology to others, what better way to do it (and look silly, too!) than with a Google I/O 2015 Cardboard VR headset. These too are selling like mad, and they’re a great way to make your family and friends sea-sick. Besides that, they’re good fun.
They’re available for $24.95 each.
My 6P glass screen protector dispatched today, thanks Ausdroid
so you don’t publish my comment because you don’t want people to know that these chargers won’t be fast charging their nexus?
Er, what? There’s no deleted comments or even pending comments from you in the Disqus filter
Perhaps there is something funky going on. It’s not frequent, but I’ve certainly had my comments disappear (or rather never appear) in the past. I imagine once or twice it may have been intentional, but for the most the comments in question have been pretty placid.
First point is that the article you tried to link to (because it was deleted as spam automatically by Disqus) doesn’t talk about the AUKey wall charger. It talks about a power bank. Different product. Secondly, we tested a number of chargers in the shop before listing them on our pages for sale. Granted, they are not 15W (3A/5V) chargers, but they did still charge the Nexus 5X quickly. I don’t recall specifically whether the AUKey chargers said “Charging rapidly” or not, but many of the chargers we tried did. I will verify this tomorrow when I’m back in the… Read more ยป
Got my Nexus 5X yesterday. Do you have any recommendations for a screen protector? Plastic or one of those glass thingies? Do you have them in your store?
We have both the film and glass protectors for Nexus 5X; my recommendation is the glass. It’s a super neat fit, and is almost invisible once on the phone. Plus, it provides greater protection.

USB 2.0 to USB-C Cable โ 1.0m โ Black and White
Have these been verified by the Google Employee testing USB Cables?
Unless he’s been to our store, then no.
or Gadget 4 Geeks store.

Chris, if you want to check yourself the important part is that there needs to be a 56kฮฉ pull-up resistor connected to the Vbus pin. It might sound like fretting about something small, but it’s actually hugely important if you don’t want your computer or charger to fry. Basically USB Type-C connectors can support USB 3.0, however USB 3.0 allows a device to pull 3A of current. A USB 2.0 hub can’t supply that much current, and attempting to draw it will very likely damage the USB hub (or charger). So Type-C connectors need to include that resistor so that… Read more ยป
The Google engineer was scrutinising cables that claimed to be USB 3.0 compliant, which these aren’t
