Printing photos has fallen by the wayside as a medium for sharing images, but a new photo printer and app from Lifeprint is offering a new way to look at prints, with an Augmented Reality component that brings the images to life.
The Lifeprint photo printer uses ZINK (ZeroInk) photo paper sheets to print out 3 x 4.5” photos from a paired smartphone. You can modify the print with filters, memes, stickers, and more to make your photo stand out. You can print to any Lifeprint printer (with the owners permission), letting you send an important memory to a friend, family member or colleague.
Once printed is where the magic happens, with Lifeprint’s ‘HyperPhoto’ technology allowing you to embed a secret video inside any photo which you can then watch it come to life like magic in your hands with the Lifeprint App
It’s almost like one of the pictures from Harry Potter.
If you’re thinking this is a great gift idea and you want to grab one for yourself or your family you can get the printer for $279.99 from JB HIfi Retail stores, as well as Apple.com and Apple stores. The Lifeprint film for the 3×4.5 is $49.99 for a pack of 40 and $29.99 for a pack of 20.
Very interesting. Do you have to use the app to take photos? Or can you just point it to a directory and it automatically prints everything that pops in there?
And can you automatically apply a watermark or sticker?
Thinking this could be a fun way to set up a photo booth.
From what I can tell, no, you just print your photos from anywhere including Google Photos, Facebook etc.
