Allcast
A few days ago we reported that well known developer Koush, was adding Chromecast support back into AllCast after Google released the GoogleCast SDK to all developers. From the update to AllCast that’s currently rolling out in Google Play, it seems that the support is now live, with a catch – you still need Google Play Services 4.2.

There’s still some issues with the streaming component, with users reporting some quirks with playback such as video files playing back upside-down. There’s also some lag while streaming video, mainly attributable of course to the quality, or lack therof, of your Wi-Fi connection, but Koush seems to be aware of these issues and will no doubt have an update to sort these out very soon.

If you want to try it out, AllCast is available for free in Google Play, but has a 1 minute limit on video length, if you’re wanting to go longer than that you’ll have to upgrade to the full version – for $5.60 – which also offers an ad-free and splash-screen free experience.

Koush has also noted that he has a Chrome App – developed when the ChromeCast was first released 6 months ago – which could finally see the light of day, enabling casting to Chromecast from your computer. The Chrome App isn’t live in the Chrome Webstore as yet, but we’re looking forward to it.

Personally I will be sticking to the free version until an update is released, but hey at least Allcast is back.
Do you have a Chromecast? Have you downloaded the Allcast App? Have you had any issues?
