We fully expect the Motorola Moto 360 to make an appearance at the event scheduled for September 4th in Chicago, we’ve seen indicative pricing and also specs before, but as we get closer to launch the actual details are getting harder to keep under wraps and leaks will happen. A leak is just what happened overnight, with US retailer Best Buy accidentally revealing the product page for the Moto 360 and showing off the price and features.

The price, according to Best Buy will begin at US$250 (approximately AU$270), with a full list of features including a Horween leather band. The Stainless steel case will include a plastic back and will be Waterproof up to 3.3ft (about 1 metre) for up to 30 minutes. We’ve finally gotten a size and resolution of that nearly fully circular screen, with the screen listed as a 1.5″ at 320×290 with 205ppi, slightly lower than the Gear Live. The Moto 360 will include a heart rate monitor, as well as WiFi (wireless N) and Bluetooth (4.0 LE). One thing not fully listed was the battery size, although the dock based charger we saw in a previous leak was confirmed.

The full features listed on the Best Buy page include :

  • Compatible with most devices with an Android 4.3 or later operating system
    For wide-ranging use.
  • Bluetooth 4.0 technology
Enables wireless syncing to select devices for hassle-free connectivity.
  • Voice activated
Allows you to use spoken commands to operate the smart watch via the built-in microphone.
  • Vibration alert
Discreetly notifies you of important events.
  • 1.5″ backlit LCD touch screen
With 320 x 290 resolution and 205 ppi makes it easy to navigate features and provides easy-to-read visuals. Corning Gorilla Glass 3 construction offers durability, and the adjustable brightness allows custom use.
  • Built-in optical heart rate monitor (PPG)
Helps you achieve or stay within your ideal heart rate range.
  • Built-in pedometer
Measures the number of steps taken, so you can easily monitor your fitness progress throughout the day.
  • Digital watch interface
Provides crisp, clear readouts of the time and date. Built-in alarm and calendar features help you stay on schedule.
  • Waterproof up to 3.3ft for up to 30 minutes
So you can safely wear the watch while swimming or engaging in other aquatic activities.
  • Stainless-steel case and plastic case back
Offer durability. The adjustable-length Horween leather band and metal buckle closure deliver a secure, comfortable fit.
  • Built-in lithium-ion battery pack
Provides long-lasting operation. The battery-strength indicator lets you know when the battery needs to be powered via the included dock and charger.
  • Texas Instruments processor
    Helps ensure fast, efficient performance.

With a US$250 price tag, it should launch in Australia at around the $300-$330 price range, when it hits our shores sometime before Christmas. Which retailers will stock the Moto 360 hasn’t been announced, but we expect it to be available on Google Play initially before hitting local retailers, as has been the case with the G Watch.

haven’t seen the metal band mentioned lately. Wasn’t it rumoured (or did Moto say it themselves?) to come with both metal and leather bands? the black metal as in the picture above looks schmick

JeniSkunk

I think that might be because everyone was excited for the metal band variant and talking about that, and basically ignoring the leather band.

Gonna need some protection on that screen. I think it will still be a very nice device, but for the price I think many will be waiting for the next generation.

On another note, it’s good to see TI back in the Android world producing processors again. The old OMAP processors were good for their time, and competition for Nvidia and Qualcomm is a good thing.

Unknown battery life and no sapphire crystal face worry me. I’ll probably give this a pass as a 1.0 product as I still have a nice mechanical watch that I really love.

So no saphire and LCD screen, great in daylight but not so much for battery life.

lobie81

Remember that the screen won’t be on as much as a phone or tablet. So it won’t have as big affect on battery life. I’m interested to see how the battery fares in real life, though…

Battery life has been said to be be 2.5 – 3.5 days. This has been mentioned a number of times

On a few, very isolated, tests. I’ll reserve my judgement for now.

Yeah it’ll probably drain much quicker with all your friends shouting ‘OK Google’ and random commands at it… 😉
