Nokia’s first Android tablet the N1 has been in limited availability since it launched in November last year. The tablet is designed by Nokia, but manufactured by Foxconn to get around restrictions regarding the sale of mobile devices after Nokia sold their devices division to Microsoft last year. Now Yatango has begun offering the tablet for sale to Australian customers.
The tablet is available to order now for $339 for members, which includes free shipping but if you don’t want to join their free program you can expect to pay $394.95. There’s no colour choices, just a lovely machined anodized aluminium housing that fits comfortably in the hand and is lightweight and thin.
Spec wise, the N1 features a 7.9″ IPS display and is powered by a 64-bit quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 processor clocked at 2.4GHz. It comes with 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Power wise, Nokia has announced that the N1 contains a 5,300 mAh battery, which will provide up to 9 hours of usage on a single charge.
The N1 is running almost stock Android 5.0, though it runs the custom Nokia Z Launcher on top. The hardware and software combination are quite attractive when you pick it up as I found out when I went hands-on with it at Mobile World Congress.
