Huawei had their CES 2016 press announcement this morning and introduced a 10″ version of the Mediapad M2 8″ model that recently launched in Australia.
The 10″ model follows the same design principals as the 8″ model, with a lovely aluminium alloy making up the full metal body which comes with a sandblasted finish to give it a nice texture while holding it.
The MediaPad M2 10.0 is designed for the multimedia experience with what Huawei describe as a ‘fantastic audio and visual experience’, with Huawei including an ‘Intelligent Power Amplifier’ as well as Clari-fi Audio Restoration and SWS 2.0 Surround Sound with tuning provided by Harman/Kardon. The MediaPad M2 10.0 screen is a 10.1″ IPS display with FullHD resolution, that Huawei says will work well in any light.
The MediaPad M2 10.0 comes with a lot of hardware under the hood with a 2GHz Kirin 930 Octa-Core processor and different options depending on the colour. The Silver model will be available with 2GB of RAM/16GB of storage while the Gold model will have 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage – both will include a mciroSD card slot to expand the onboard storage.
The Gold Model will be the only one offering the ‘M-Pen’ stylus though Huawei hasn’t offered any additional information on the stylus at this stage.
Surprisingly for tablet photographers, you will get a decent camera setup on the tablet, with a rear facing 13MP camera and a front facing 5MP sensor as well.
At the announcement today, Huawei announced that the tablet would be arriving in the US in the first quarter of this year for $349 for the base model and $419 for the Wi-fi model of the Gold MediaPad M2 10.0 which includes the M-Pen. Huawei Australia has not at this stage announced whether the tablet will arrive in Australia but we’ll keep you posted.
