Android tablets tend to get a bit of a bad rap, but for those of us who actually use them and like using them, it’s always good to see a new piece of hardware announced. Today, LG have released the latest in their G Pad line, the LG G Pad III 8.0. If you couldn’t tell from the name, it is an 8″ FHD Android 6.0 tablet coming in with decidedly mid-tier specs, take a look below:

Display 8.0″ 1920 x 1200 IPS LCD
Processor Snapdragon 617 Octa-core @ 1.5 GHz
RAM 2 GB
Storage 32 GB
SD Card Yes, tp to 128 GB
Ports MicroUSB
USB A (yes a second USB A type port)
3.5 mm headphone jack
Rear Camera 8MP
Front Camera Yes
WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac
Bluetooth 4.1 LE
Battery 4800 mAh
OS Version Android 6.0
Size 124.1 x 210.7 7.9 mm
Weight 309 grams

With a Snapdragon 617 processor, Android 6.0 and 32GB of internal storage the G Pad III should be a solid performer. There is no doubt this is a “mid-range” device, but it seems the tablet market has settled more toward the middle of the market than the top.

The device has only been launched in Korea at this stage, with some hints of international variants that MAY include Cellular connectivity. Previous versions of the LG pad have come to the Australian market, and so we have contacted LG Australia and will let you know if there is anything to announce locally.

Are you an Android Tablet user? How does the LG G Pad III look to you? Let us know in the comments.

With a GPS I’d be in. Hell – better yet a nexus. The N7 I’m writing this on won’t get Android N

A Google Play Edition perhaps? Still get some use out of my old Gpad 8.3 GPE

Whats this about a bad wrap?
I’ve had my Nexus 10″ for years and I haven’t replaced it because I love it. I like it better than my premium Samsung Note.
Like Will I’m considering a cheap Chinese Knock off. Some off the specs for these a pretty damn good and the prices are ridiculous low enough to accept a complete fail.

I’m glad to see some continued love for the 8 to 9 inch tablet – it’s certainly my preferred size. I still need to get my money’s worth out of my Galaxy Tab S 8.4″ otherwise I’d certainly give this some consideration.

By the way, it’s “Bad rap” not “Bad wrap”.

i’m looking to get one to use as an impromptu headunit (i wont bother installing it just putting it in a holder) this might do the trick, or maybe a cube 9x or some other chinese tablet.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
