It’s a new month, and with the monthly security updates out of the way, Google has released information on which versions of Android are used most based on which versions are hitting the Google Play Store.
It’s been a good month in terms of devices like the Galaxy S8 and S8+ launching with Android Nougat on board, bolstering market share to a significant bump up to 7% (including 7.0 and 7.1). Strangely Android 2.3.3 – 2.3.7 and Android 5.1 both saw a small bump in their usage numbers claiming back 0.1% and 0.3% of the Android numbers respectively. The rest of the versions of Android fell for the most part, though Marshmallow managed to merely stand still sitting at 31.2% of the market.

Still waiting for the update to roll-out for the Moto X play. If they stick to their plans it should be not far off now but still has been a while. I do hope it goes strait to 7.1 too seeing that has been out for ages.
Once some of these older phones start getting their updates I am sure the number will climb very fast.
