With the official launch of the Asus Padfone 2 going ahead in Milan tonight, the phone/tablet combo unit has been officially unveiled in Taipei by Asus CEO Jerry Shen. As we saw earlier in the leaked video the newer combo has a new docking system which does away with the cassette deck style interface and the phone has a slightly larger screen among other improved specifications.

Engadget did mention that the Australian market was definitely mentioned so this one is definitely inbound. very disappointed at the lack of Keyboard base – if there ever will be one for it. 🙁 That was what made the original Padfone (and it’s spiritual predecessors like the Moto Atrix) so special.
Love the sweeping curves where the phone docks.
Shudder to think of the price given the phone alone will give the best a run for their money.

The synchro between a phone and tablet doesn’t come any stronger than with the Patrons 2/tablet. I am looking for far more than just a phone with my next aqusition

Australian LTE is 1800Mhz at the moment so it’s probably a ‘yes’.
