It is no secret that I am a fan of the Pebble smart watch. Unfortunately I missed out on the Kickstarter campaign so I am still waiting for my Pebble to ship, but that doesn’t mean I can’t keep track of all of the exciting new developments.
A few days ago, RunKeeper saw a nice little update that brought with it integration with the Pebble smart watch. This will allow you to see key statistics during your run directly on your watch. The app did add more than that, so even if you don’t own a Pebble, you will still be pleased with the update.
The update has made it much easier and simpler to enter non-GPS workouts or your weight, right into the app. There’s even a visualization of how your weight is progressing over time. Another feature that I feel was desperately needed was the addition of new home screen and lock screen widgets. So for those of you running Android 4.2, you can now start and stop an activity without even unlocking your phone.
I have tried several different running apps on Android and the addition of the Pebble integration is enough for me to stick with RunKeeper for the foreseeable future.
