Ausdroid reviewed the Xiaomi Mi 9T in September and liked it. As part of that review, we were told that the device would see and update in Q4 of this year. Xiaomi have stayed true to that promise, pushing out the update to devices this week.
This news comes thanks to regular reader – and former writer for Ausdroid – Jamie who has confirmed this from his JB Hifi purchsed unit.
As previously noted, the update brings version 11 of MIUI which includes a heap of changes for users. A re-design of the user interface and always on display are immediately noticeable. The theme was very simple to change on previous versions of MIUI, nothing appears to have changed from the information we have been provided.
MiShare is a proprietary file sharing option which duplicates existing options in the OS, but with Xiaomi’s own flavour. There are several other functions which have been tweaked as part of the update, take a look at the screenshots if you’re interested to know more.
Our contacts are looking to confirm which other devices will see updates for us. We’ll be sharing that information once we have it, hopefully very soon.
My mi 9t pro international version is downloading miui 11 now. We’ll see what it brings.
MIUI 11 dropped on my international Mi Mix 2 yesterday and also upgraded Android 8 to Android 9 for my device. Very nice update making the device feel more modern ans fluid in the software department.
Xiaomi continuing to kick goals. Here’s hoping we get to see more of their line up in Australia and in local stores.
Cheers
Thanks for the shout out Phil. The MIUI update has some significant improvements with the UI and battery life and some new features like scheduled dark mode activation and new AOD options. However there is still no smartlock option to keep your watch unlocked with a Bluetooth device unless it’s a mi band. Still no Australia English either.
