The rumoured Active variant of the popular Galaxy S6 is getting more real by the day. We saw photos of the phone in the wild yesterday and today, leaker extraordinaire Evan Blass, has provided press renders of the phone in rugged looking colour schemes.
As you can see from the logon on the rear of the leaked renders, the phone is destined for US carrier AT&T in keeping with last years Galaxy S5 Active model which launched on the carrier. The phone has a stylishly rugged camouflage pattern in a lighter and darker options.
The Galaxy Sx Active models have all included a more ruggedised case design, as well as IPXX rating for water and dust resistance. The lack of IP rating on the Galaxy S6 has been a bone of contention for some potential customers. The Galaxy S5 Active never made it to Australia, but the IP rating on the Galaxy S5 somewhat negated that requirement, but a Galaxy S6 Active variant may make sense for international rollout – we’ll have to wait and see.
We’ll have to wait for an official announcement to officially know what Samsung is intending with the phone, and if specs and LTE band support line up, there may be a few people importing this phone.
