Galaxy Note 3
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is being launched in Australia right now, and all the carriers are bringing out their pricing. So far, Vodafone has given us a look at their pricing and availability which includes a bundle pack that includes both the Note 3 and Galaxy Gear and now Telstra has announced their pricing for the Galaxy Note 3, which unfortunately does not include a bundle for the Galaxy Gear.

Telstra has updated their Telstra Exchange blog to advise that the Note 3 will be available but have not included any dates on availability, based on the Vodafone launch and information coming out of the media launch this morning it should be available around the 3rd of October.

The Samsung GALAXY Note 3 will be available on a range of Telstra plans including:

Consumer customers can purchase the Samsung GALAXY Note 3 on the $80 Every Day ConnectTM Plan with a $8 handset repayment per month (when you stay connected for 24 months), with $800 worth of included calls and MMS, unlimited SMS and 1.5GB of data, all to standard Australian numbers (and excluding use overseas) each month. Min cost over 24 months is $2,122 ($88/mth) and 2 minute standard call is $2.38, excess data $0.10/MB.

Business customers can purchase the Samsung GALAXY Note 3 on $80 Business Performance Plan with a $8 per month handset repayment for 24 months when you stay connected for 24 months, with $800 worth of included calls and MMS, unlimited SMS and 1.5GB of data, all to standard Australian numbers (excludes use overseas) each month. Min cost $2,122 ($88/mth) and 2 minute standard call is $2.38, excess data $0.10/MB.

Samsung GALAXY Note 3 will also be available to be purchased outright in Telstra stores for $912 RRP and GALAXY Gear will be available in Telstra stores for $369 RRP.

Telstra are advising customers to register their interest on the Telstra/Samsung product information page to receive further updates but we may have to wait for further details on this launch.

Outright pricing on the Note 3 is quite expensive but we will obviously see some competition in the retail pricing once the phone hits Australian shelves so to speak. No bundle with the Galaxy Gear which at launch is only compatible with the Note 3 is quite an interesting direction to take, we hope to see some more information on a bundle from Telstra and have asked them if there are any details coming, we’ll update when they advise.

Staff plan

Plans are getting worse and worse.

what’s Telstra’s timing these days to add all their bloat and get a phone ready for sale.? I’m gathering that Oct 3 is highly unlikely

Matt Booth

Let’s see – $88 per month for 24 months for 1.5GB data for a total of $2,112. OR… $912 outright plus $40 Encore prepaid per month for 1.8GB data for a total of $1,872. Not a difficult decision to make there!

Dave

I swear their plans get worse every year =/
I’d love a plan with heaps of data, and no calls. What am I going to do with $800 included calls? 1.5GB really isn’t much these days. I’m sure I’m not alone. And no bundle with the Gear? Hmm…

CatLovingMan

It’s still worth it for the network. A phone is just a fancy brick without coverage 🙁

Dave

Agreed. Still, the others are catching up, and Telstra’s response appears to be to offer less.

It might still be worth it for the network. This depends entirely on where you live and what you use your phone for. Still, the Telstra price premium seems to be increasing every year while the gap in coverage is creeping down, especially if you don’t visit remote areas.
