Oppo’s R5 handset released late last year, was an ultra-thin design which though a little under-powered was high powered when it came to the design stakes. Oppo is gearing up for a new model, with the Oppo R7 set to launch later this month in China.
The Oppo social media feeds and forum have been talking about the new handset, including releasing a couple of teaser images of the phone. The images, and teases spill the beans on the design, which will throw full metal unibody construction into the mix, which Oppo say will feel ‘unlike any other’.
The specs have been semi-leaked thanks to a trip through the Chinese certification body TENAA, which shows the phone will come in two variants – one for China Mobile, the other for China Telecom. The China Telecom model will come with a 1.5 GHz 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor, while the China Mobile model will be powered by a MediaTek 1.7GHz octa-core MT6752 processor.
The R7 will apparently be announced at an event in China on May 20, though when or if we’ll see these models on the OppoMobile.com.au site here in Australia is anyones guess. We’ll know more when the launch kicks off.
