Note-5-StylusSamsung have really learned a few lessons in the last twelve months, and it seems the moaning from customers about lack of updates (especially for security and bug issues) has hit home. Samsung’s (just about) monthly security updates are a really welcome thing, especially for users of 2015’s flagship Galaxy S6 and Galaxy Note 5 range.

While the Galaxy S6 range received the December 2015 update just before the end of December, the Note 5 wasn’t quite so fortunate, but it seems that the Note 5 update is now rolling out slowly to users.

There’s not a lot of significant change in there that users will really care about, but security patches are always welcome, especially when vulnerabilities like Stagefright seem to just keep popping up every now and again. The December 2015 update includes the latest Android 5.1.1 security patches from Google, as well as nine fixes from Samsung and slight improvements to voice quality on calls.

As Samsung localises its firmwares for different markets (and indeed different carriers) it may take a little while for this update to make its way to your device, but give it a week or so and it should be there. If you get impatient, check out the Note 5 firmwares on Sam Mobile, and you can install it manually if required.
