Galaxy S7
Overnight the embargo dropped on reviews of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and interested customers can now read the thoughts of reviewers on Samsung’s latest flagship. Our review of both the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge is now live, but for those of a technical nature, the team at iFixit has torn the Galaxy S7 down to its components and graded it for repairability.

The score isn’t great for tinkerers out there intending to repair the Galaxy S7, with iFixit scoring the phone 3 out of 10 – slightly worse than the score they gave last year’s Galaxy S6, which clocked a 4 out of 10.

The phone lost points for a screen which will likely require the glass be replaced at the same time, and the glass on the front and back of the device shattering hazards. Tinkerers will have to deal with strong adhesive holding the glass on the rear as well.

There is some good news, the battery can be removed without taking the motherboard out, but be warned there’s strong adhesive holding it in place. The best news is that many components inside the phone seem to be modular, making for easy replacement independently.

If you want to check out the teardown of the Galaxy S7, head over to the iFixit website and check it out.

Same as all the other Samsungs before it, except with a lot more glue and a heat pipe 🙂

JT...

yeah the heat pipe was an interesting addition…wonder why they didn’t add it to the spec sheet as a feature 😉
