Huawei is absolutely crushing it at the moment, their sales and revenue are climbing in a market that is stagnant at best and declining at worst. It should be little surprise that they will release a successor to their very popular P9 line in 2017. Apparently, the Head of Huawei Consumer Business Group, Richard Yu has confirmed that the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus could be released around March-April 2017, making MWC a great event to announce the devices at.
Of course, this is mainly speculation, with the announcement of the P9 not occurring until April 2016 an announcement at MWC a full month early isn’t a certainty, however with the Samsung Galaxy S8 rumoured to be delayed it maybe that Huawei wants to get out in front of that announcement?
Rumoured specs for the P10 range include Huawei’s own Kirin 960 Processor, 4 and/or 6 GB of RAM, 64 and or 128GB of storage, fingerprint sensor, a 5.5″ QHD display most likely AMOLED for compatibility with Daydream and a dual lens rear camera set up. We’ve also seen some rumoured shots of the device that show nothing overly surprising.
With the Huawei Mate 9 being announced as supporting Amazon’s Alexa it will be interesting to see if the P10 follows suit or if Google can somehow get the Google Assistant onto the device. With Samsung rumoured to announce Bixby their own AI assistant and Huawei already integrating Alexa in devices, Google may find their strategy of Pixel first has backfired. Google assistant as a platform will only work if you can access it everywhere.
